Horseback in La Finca. The Joy of Riding a Well Trained Horse.
LaFinca was born as a Horse Ranch about 12 years ago.
At one point we had so many horses we had to figure out how to make money to pay the bills. (That's a joke, because you never make money when you have horses -- but we like fooling ourselves.) That is how LaFinca was born. Pure passion for Horses…
We have many horses (maybe more than we need …but you can never have enough), several breeds, sizes and gaits and we assure you that we can tailor our horses and routes to please from the most experienced rider to those who have never been on a horse before.
Helmets are provided, and highly recommended, but YOU decide if you want to use a helmet.
All our rides are with a bilingual guide. When we take more than 4 people, or there are inexperienced kids in the group, we go with 2 guides for safety.
And all of our horses are so well treated -- good food, plenty of free time to run and play, and great veterinary care. Plus they get regular training so they respond to commands and behave gracefully... most of the time.
We offer Full Horse Riding Vacations: check our horseback vacation specialty.
We have been selected as one of the best operators and horse destinations of the world by CNN and featured in a full length horseback riding TV show by Equitrekking. You can see the video (which won an Emmy Award) on Centaura's Horseback Riding Adventures website.
For People New To Riding
La Finca is for people with affection and curiosity for horses who want to really learn to ride without the constraints of poorly treated horses and restricted riding conditions. Group size never exceeds 8 riders plus guides.
We're riding on the country roads and across some open fields... places you'll get a chance to run, to test your control of your horse. LaFinca's guide will aid your technique -- maybe shorten a stirrup, or show you a better way to hold your reigns.

For Very Young Beginners
The idea is to let kids get to know horses in a natural way. When beginners are timid we start in the stable, getting around horses, giving them a treat (our horses all love bananas and fresh hay). Very young kids start to trust the horse, to see it as something like a large dog.
Then it's the first ride, frequently with LaFinca's guide in the saddle with them. Parents with experience, and confidence, can take their own kids, once they have been alone a bit on the kid's horse, to be sure they are comfortable.
We trust our guides, and especially Pedro, who never stops watching what's going on when kids are around.
After riding the horses love their bath. Kids like getting wet. So they decide to wash their horse. Yes, it is now THEIR horse. The bond is set.
